Reflection 7: Long Distance Learning (online)

Image
Long Distance Learning (Online) Firstly, Ms. Nabila started off something differently in class today. She wanted us to write a short paragraph of letter to ourself and to one of the people we love in our life. It was a rainy morning and most of us went into kind of a emo mode at that time. Life is short. We never know what might comes next. Therefore, I'm always appreciated what I have in my life. I always cherish the time I spend with my family and friends because I do not want to feel regretful in the future. After writing those letters, we gave each other hugs and words of encouragement. Alright, Ms. Nabila taught us about long distance learning in this week's lecture. Distance learning, also called as distance education, is known as a method od studying over the Internet. Students will not have to attend classes in school or any educational institutions. According to Durden (2001), he said that 'Long Distance Learning' are not affirm as individuals. Also, h...

Reflection 6: Speaker Session

Microsoft Office 365 Tools Hello everyone! It's week 7 already. *Time flies* Alright, the lecture this week was conducted by Ms. Fairuz, who is a Microsoft representative. She taught us a lot information by using Microsoft Office 365 tools which include Mail, Sway, OneDrive, Yammer and more. Microsoft Office 365 tools has numerous applications as shown in the picture above. Ms. Fairuz was only manageable to cover some of them due to the limit of time. Firstly, she gave a talk and simple briefing about Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel. She taught us on how to create and sharing files among our teachers and friends. I found it easier if we do it in this way for our group assignment as not all the students have the same lecture time. In other word, students might be panic and worry when they heard 'group coursework' as many of us found out that it is hard to coordinate with every group members' time. After the briefing Ms. Fairuz given, I found out that it...

Reflection 5: Memes + Social Media

Image
Memes + Social Media Today's lesson was about memes and social media. I don't know why but memes have been a popular trend of topic recently. According to the book called The Selfish Gene in 1976, a biologist who is Richard Dawkins, he stated that memes are the imitation pattern of a gene to pass on something genetically. There are people who get misunderstood between the relation of gene and meme. Here comes the difference. Gene is biologically while meme is not. Next, social media is defined as the technologies used to facilitate social interaction and collaboration according to Bryer and Zavatarro (2011). These techonologies include blogs, wikipedia, media, pictures and networking platforms such as Facebook. Firstly, let me give some explanation of what meme really is. Meme can be defined as an image, video or catchphrase which spread rapidly by Internet users, often with slight variations. It transfers information via signs. Also, memes may not be something with a ...

Reflection 4: TIP Model

Image
TIP Model  Hello, my fellow readers. Before Ms. Nabila begin the class today, she gave a briefing about our multimedia presentation in April. She suggested us to break our presentation into 3 parts. First could be optional, which might be having scaffolding, using quizzes, activities as well as some element of surprise. Second, she advised us to focus on the content of our topic. The last part would be concept checking. She said that it is important for us to check out the understanding of our listener and learners. Also, quizzes can be use in this part. Furthermore, Ms. Nabila mentioned that we can reward the participants or the learners some reward by using the reward system. However, the reward must be worth enough to motivate people to be participated in doing the exercise. Next, Ms. Nabila told us that we will be having 2 e-forum discussion in total. We will have to answer the question as well as to reply others' answer. Then, Ms. Nabila started off teaching us the TI...

Noisli: Firstly, Noisli is website which helps in boosting the productivity and increase the focus of the learners. It is an ideal app providing with the background noise and colour generator in order to help learners to focus while doing their work, relaxing, and releasing stress. Learners can mix sounds to create their own optimum learning environment. Noisli Formative Secondly which is the formative. This is a 'gamification' model for students who need to accomplish their task and work online. In this website, students can get their feedback instantly.  Above is a picture which shows how formative works. It may be started creating an assignment by lecturers then assigning them to the students. After students finished their work, they will receive live results an...

Reflection 2: Instructional Software

Instructional Software From the lecture, instructional software is defined as computer programs designed specifically to deliver instructions or assist with teaching and delivering instructions. In addition, it also helps in reinforcing concept understanding. These categories are as follow: Drill & Practice Tutorial Simulation Instructional Games Problem Solving Drill & Practice It allows learners to work on their problems or answering questions and receiving feedback. In this software, thinking is not required as students have to memorise the facts and keep practicing until they get it right.  The advantages of this software will lead students to be able to get feedback immediately, increasing motivation and saving teacher time. However, there are some possible issues which students may find it bor...
