Reflection 4: TIP Model

TIP Model

Hello, my fellow readers. Before Ms. Nabila begin the class today, she gave a briefing about our multimedia presentation in April. She suggested us to break our presentation into 3 parts. First could be optional, which might be having scaffolding, using quizzes, activities as well as some element of surprise. Second, she advised us to focus on the content of our topic. The last part would be concept checking. She said that it is important for us to check out the understanding of our listener and learners. Also, quizzes can be use in this part. Furthermore, Ms. Nabila mentioned that we can reward the participants or the learners some reward by using the reward system. However, the reward must be worth enough to motivate people to be participated in doing the exercise. Next, Ms. Nabila told us that we will be having 2 e-forum discussion in total. We will have to answer the question as well as to reply others' answer.

Then, Ms. Nabila started off teaching us the TIP Model. It is an acronym for Technology Integration Planning. There are 3 phases which Ms. Nabila mainly focused on in the TIP Model.

Firstly, the first phase is establishing learner needs (needs analysis). Basically, we need to know what do learners need and as a learner we need to ask ourselves what do we need. Then, we need to know what technology we need to use and as well as how are we going to conduct the class for delivering the information to students by using those technologies.

Secondly, the second phase of the TIP model that taught by Ms. Nabila is about the technologies. We need to know what tools would be the most effective ones for the learners. For example, when we're learning mathematics we need to use a calculator and we need dictionary while studying a language. By having the effective tools can help learners to learn the particular subject easily and quickly.

Third, the last phase which Ms. Nabila taught us is revision. I always think that revision is VERY IMPORTANT!!! This is because as we're doing revision, we can actually analyse our mistakes and we can make some improvement by doing so. If students do not revise their studies, they will probably forget what they learned after days. In addition, below is a link which I found it cool. It briefly talked about the strategies and purposes of revision. You guys can have a look if you're interested in. πŸ˜‰

To sum up the page, learners have to revise in order to understand their learning and to be able to answer exercise questions or exams.

Next, coming to the last part before the lecture ends today. Ms. Nabila showed us a video on Youtube. The topic of this video is: "The 7 Secrets of the Greatest Speakers". This video helps us to improve whenever we're having public speaking or presentations.

In this video, there are 7 tips to become a great speaker.
  1. Choose the RIGHT CHOICE of WORDS
  2. GOOD voice tone (not having monotoned speech)
  3. Body Language (gestures)
