Reflection 8: Self-love & Long Distance Learning (cont.)

Self-love and Drawbacks of Long Distance Learning

It's the last week for Educational Technology's class. Time passes so fast right? Everything has its ending and life still goes on. According to a quote from Frank Herbert, he said that: "There is no real ending. It's just the place where you stop the story" *Aww 😢

Alright, back to the topic today. Today's class was started with the topic of self-love. Below is a webpage about why is it so important for us to love ourselves. However, I'm going to mainly focus on some of it only. You can browse through the link below if you want! 😊

  1. We have to love ourselves first, so that we will only accept who we are.
  2. Boost up the level of confidence
  3. Avoiding self reproach (including anxiety, stress and depression)
  4. Able to accept and improve your imperfections
  5. Look at things from different perspective
Below is a video from Youtube for you guys if you prefer to watch a video by explaining about this topic rather than just reading. 😃

To wrap up this part, loving yourself can make us become a better person not only physically but also psychologically and emotional state. By then, you will attract better people and circumstance in your life.

Next, going on to continue with last week's topic. We continued discussing about some of the drawbacks of long distance learning in the class today. If you're having any doubt about this topic, you can feel free to go to this link: Long Distance Learning for more information.

Drawbacks of Long Distance Online Learning:
  1. Distance Learning require self-motivation. If learners do not have self-motivation, they will probably be having hard time, weak planning and organisation in their learning.
  2. Weak accessibility of contacting with lecturer. For instance, learners are sometimes to be fear of asking questions whenever they have some problems in their studies.
  3. Distance Learning requires reliable access and stable connection. In this case, some might find it hard to have a long distance online learning if they have poor connection or they might not know how to use the modern technologies.
  4. Less engagement and interactive in order to have good oral communication skills.
*If you would like to know more, here's a page which shows more distance learning disadvantages.

In conclusion, distance learning has its own pros and cons. I personally think that the disadvantages are more outweigh than the advantages. I would still prefer the traditional way of learning. In addition, I think i wouldn't choose to teach from a long distance in the future if I am becoming a teacher. However, different individuals have different optimum learning styles. You have to know which suits you the best and apply it to make sure you use the best learning techniques.
